The Kierkegaard symposium was dedicated to the existential turn. The search for new formations of identity should allow for an asymmetrical relation at the very heart of ethics. Through Kierkegaard Eastern Europe can examine and open new philosophical perspectives and begin to rethink concrete ethics. The participants of the symposium included outstanding philosophers, intellectuals and theologians, all of them from Central and Eastern Europe. Slovenia, where Kierkegaard's thought has already established itself through the many translations and studies of Dr Primož Repar, is ideally placed for an encounter at the crossroads of different European experiences.

The 4th International Symposium of Miklavž Ocepek took place between 12th and 18th of June 2013 with accompanying events during the whole year. The working part of the symposium was comprised of two parts, the symposium part, that took place in the form of 3-day philosophical workshops, lectures, debates, roundtable, presentations of participants and their work and the social gatherings and cultural events in the village of Škocjan near Trieste (under the protection of the UNESCO convention). The symposium has opened in Ljubljana and continued in the Slovene capital with the final roundtable on the theme of the entire event: NEW OIKONOMY OF RELATIONSHIPS: NEIGHBOUR AND EXISTENTIAL TURN. How to philosophize after Kierkegaard? The last two days the symposium took the form of a colloquy, in which many researchers, philosophers, thinkers and writers took part. In the context of the event a film about Søren Kierkegaard and a tape of a lecture of Jean-Luc Marion “The Impossibility of the Impossible: God” were presented. Kierkegaard was popularized by readings from his work on different places of cultural significance in Ljubljana and in cooperation with the Embassy of Denmark Kingdom ensured various social events.

Simpozij o Kierkegaardu je bil posvečen eksistencialnemu obratu. Iskanje novih oblik identitete bi moralo omogočati asimetrične odnose v samem središču etike. Prek Kierkegaarda lahko Vzhodna Evropa preučuje in odpira nove filozofske vidike in pričenja premišljevati konkretno etiko.

knjiga9Abstract

Popular hermeneutics lead postmodern man to the discovery of a ‘loss of horizon’, which is why the key question of this essay is how to, through Kierkegaard’s paradoxical way of thinking, and Ricoeur’s conflicting understanding of self, grasp the understanding of narrowness of a mediocre life and to an education which prevents people from becoming a mindless horde. The solution to social psychologist Ph. Zimbardo’s search for little heroes, who would outgrow various abuses of a person by another person, is found in interlacing of a single individual and a society that actively accepts a conflict of interpretations.

Key words: S. Kierkegaard, P. Ricoeur, interpretation, single individual, education, Ph. Zimbardo, subject,

The search for meaning is a topic that is increasingly more relevant in today's world, a world that is increasingly emptied of meaning. We have had the traumatic experience of the Holocaust, which pervades the history of the 20th century. The Slovenian contribution to the present pro-ceedings reveals the thought of Andrej Gosar, a great searcher of meaning and a social visionary, too, who lived in the Slovenian space between the two World Wars, which was designed by Christian social activism in social terms, and which looked for a third way between socialism and capitalism. An essential dimension of this third way is spiritual intentionality, in terms of an individuals personal transcendence, that is, the inner path to God as Absolutely Other. Only in the human ‘inner self’ can the Kingdom of God be realized on Earth, believes Andrej Gosar.

The comprehensive social vision of Andrej Gosar is very intriguing today, not only for Slovenia, but it is an especially challenging opportunity in Central Europe, where there is also a strong specific Christian tradition and the common mentality of centuries of cultural and political coexistence.

Even the experience of communist totalitarianism is what deepens our experience for the future. It is the bitterest experience of suffering but, paradoxically, it may also be the most inspiring and encouraging experience for the internal being of man.

Andrej Gosar's work in Slovenia was torn from almost seventy years of silence. Walls that stood for decades bet-ween the geographical and spiritual landscapes may have fallen, but their menacing shadows still haunt the human soul. Ideological concepts have changed consumer non-ideology, which corresponds to human indifference and the absence of effect at the suffering of another. Old walls have been replaced by cell isolation; sometimes it seems even self-isolation of human being.

This contribution is our small attempt to overcome this fear in order to connect the new dialogue, which will cross both geographic and spiritual limits, and contribute to a new understanding in the new Europe. This new Europe does not accept the absurdity of the post-modern ideological world, a less and less golden age of Europe.

Medzinarodny kolektiv autorov vedeckych študii tohto zbornika (zo Slovenska, Poľska, Slovinska a Českej republiky) sa pokuša analyzovať aspoň niektore aspekty interakcie spoločnosti, naboženstva a kultury v dnešnom svete.
